What Motivates Volunteers?

When asked what they like most about working in their Safe Communities Program, several volunteer leaders listed these benefits:

Team Spirit
Being on a team with shared goals

Diversity
Having access to a variety of people one would otherwise not be able to work with.

Opportunity
A chance to teach and help others to make their individual contribution.

Creativity
Ability to introduce new ideas in the community for saving lives.

Knowing results
Actually seeing the payoff from effort.

Getting feedback from people who receive the benefits of the project.

Watching participation grow.
