Convenience, trust and concern for the customer. These are fundamental principles of quality customer service.

We can learn these principles from retail giant Wal-Mart. Their customer service department is located near the entrance of the store - making returning or exchanging merchandise convenient, and they don't bombard customers with a litany of questions while exchanging or returning merchandise (trust). You are greeted at the front door by a happy, smiling face. When paying for your products, the clerk thanks you by calling you by name. Concern for customers is evident in the employees friendly smiles and helpful nature.

How can your business benefit from their example? How convenient do you make it for your customers to complain or return the product? How do you convey your trust or concern for them? Answering these questions thoughtfully could positively impact your bottom line.
