Stress!

According to the United States Department of Labor, the service industry suffers from the most from occupational stress involving days away from work. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that “workers who must take time off work because of stress, anxiety, or a related disorder will be off the job for about 20 days.” Is stress affecting your bottom line? Probably.

We all play a role in managing the stress levels in our lives. A few simple tips can help reduce personal stress in the workplace. For instance, each evening straighten your office before you depart. Walking in to an organized-looking environment can help to place a positive outlook on the day’s activities. Consider taking smaller, shorter breaks throughout the day instead of one or two large ones. Finally, live in and focus on the present. Try not to worry about past events or upcoming deadlines. As a manager, never allow an employee’s work to interfere with his or her job.[ end of article ]
