The Fundraising Hierarchy of Effectiveness

Most experienced fund-raisers agree on a particular hierarchy of effectiveness when it comes to soliciting gifts. It is not a surprise that the more personal the contact is, the more positive the results are. The methods from least effective to most effective are:

From least to most effective:  Media advertising, Door to door, Special event, Phonathon, Direct Mail, Personalized letter, Personal telephone call, Personal letter on personal stationery, Personal:  face-to-face.
