Targeted Audience

City, County & State Law Enforcement Agencies
County
Goals
Increase awareness of local agencies’ enforcement efforts of the child passenger safety law
Increase child passenger safety law citations
Strategies
The Safe Communities Advisory Board reviews child passenger safety citation statistics on a quarterly basis. The board determined to expand the information into a competition between the law enforcement agencies. A comparison report of the number of citations for violations of the child passenger safety law was prepared depicting each law enforcement agency within the county as being in a “race”. The report was given to each of the agencies’ administrators on a quarterly basis. Individual and agency law enforcement efforts are monitored, and the efforts will be rewarded at an annual recognition event.
Results
Law enforcement administrators became much more aware of their agency’s efforts to enforce the child passenger safety law.
Law enforcement agencies are able to review their progress in increasing citations
Law enforcement agencies are aware of where their efforts fit within the entire state’s citation efforts.
