Profile on Det. Mark Hanson, Region 1 Safe Communities
Posted: Dec 20, 2004
I have been with the coalition for three and a half years now, but have been aware of the coalition for many years and have seen their work. When I took over my new position, one of the things I was to do was join the coalition and work with them for our common goals.
After joining, I expected to help the coalition obtain its goals and objectives by assisting them with their projects and ideas. I continue to expect the coalition and its members to work closely together with themselves and other agencies to achieve the goals and objectives of the coalition. I also expect teamwork from others as it is my desire to wholly contribute to the team efforts. My particular areas of interest include being involved with both the Alcohol and Occupant Protection committees. I enjoy working in both areas, as well as with the entire coalition, in general, with the only disappointment being some local statistics that are in need of improvement.
I felt prepared for my work with the coalition after serving as a Police Officer for many years and experiencing issues regarding alcohol use and abuse as well as motorists not using their safety belts while driving. My education includes a degree from Minot State College in Criminal Justice. I have also graduated from the North Dakota Police Academy, received 2,300 hours of law enforcement training, and graduated from the FBI National Academy.
