Bismarck's First Annual Appreciation Breakfast

The First Annual Appreciation Breakfast was held on February 21, 2003 at the Kelly Inn to recognize the efforts and achievements of Law Enforcement Personnel & Community members working toward creating a safer community. Guest speaker was Mayor Ken LaMont from Mandan, ND. Do you know who was honored?

Police Officers Of The Year were Officer Robert Benson, Bismarck Police Department and Lt. Chris Miller, Mandan Police Department. Law Enforcement Officers Of The Year were Lt. Lisa Wicks, Burleigh County Sheriff's Department and Detective Cody Steele, Morton County Sheriff's Department.

Lanny Serrano received an Appreciation Award for his service at Juvenile Court. Lanny has dedicated 32 years of service to children and families and will be retiring February 28, 2003.

Stan Puklich Chevrolet and Bill Barth Ford received Appreciation Awards for allowing car safety seat check up's to be held in their service departments. Certified Car Safety Seat Technicians perform the check ups and put in many hours of time and effort to ensure the safety of children. Technicians receiving Appreciation Awards included: Carol Manifold, Department of Health; Carol Holzer, Department of Health; Dawn Mayer, Department of Health; Delora Schmidt, Custer Health; Kathy Odegannd, Custer Health; Connie Schwartz, Bismarck Burleigh Public Health; Tori Ohlhauser; Dan Veer, Bill Barth Ford; and Kurt Guenther, Stan Puklich Chevrolet.

Capitol City Coalition For A Safe Community Executive Coalition Members receiving Appreciation Awards were Jan Schmid, Medcenter One; Brenda Christensen, Community Action Program Region VII, Inc; Michael Jay, ABATE of ND; Douglas Sailer, Juvenile Court; and Pat Renz, Bismarck Police Department.

A big thanks goes to the sponsors that helped make the breakfast a huge success.
