Summer Fun and Safety Day, Crime Stopper Program, and May Mobilization are some of the program highlights for May 2002.

A regular monthly car safety seat check up was held May 8, 2002, at Stan Puklich. The car safety seat check ups had successful results. A list of tub items to be replenished at the dealerships was provided. A jeans day application has been approved and funds of ,900.00 will be used to purchase additional car safety seats. An increase in pregnant women bringing their car safety seats in to be installed prior to birth has been noted. A car safety seat committee meeting was held on May 23, 2002. Discussion included requesting RSVP, Foster Grandparents, 55 Alive Driving Group, and Girl Scouts volunteers to help with the checkups.
The 20th anniversary of Safety Town is approaching and registrations have been distributed. A boost, then buckle campaign meeting was held May 30, 2002, at the Department of Health. The campaign was discussed in great detail, including campaign marketing ideas, incentive items, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 activities, locations to distribute the message and information, target audience, new models, new materials, and a slogan. St. Alexius's Summer Fun and Safety Day and May Mobilization were part of May activities. A public service announcement was sent out for May Mobilization.
The council approved a request from Custer Health for up to 0.00 worth of helmets. Five bike helmet parties were held - including two at BECEP, two at ABATE, and one at the Pioneer School for Boy Scout Troop. Three parties were planned and put on with Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health.
Spring safety belt surveys have been completed and the data compiled. All high school safety belt campaigns are completed. South Central High School had posters, pledges, brochures, and held a game in the school. They also had incentive items and sponsored caught buckled up days. Bismarck High School invited Vince and Larry to visit the school. Incentives, videos, brochures, and caught buckled up coupons were also used throughout their campaign.end of article
