Traffic safety campaigns prepare for spring awareness efforts
Posted: Jun 5, 2004
By: DBDB Newsletter
North Dakota’s traffic safety advocates are focusing their educational and enforcement efforts this spring on increasing safety belt usage and decreasing impaired driving.
"The traditional Memorial Day Occupant Protection and April Impaired Driving Bitzes include the public information and enforcement periods," explained Dawn Olson, Traffic Safety Manager for the North Dakota Department of Transportation, Drivers License and Traffic Safety Division (NDDOT, DLTSD). Public information activities implemented statewide included billboards, gas pump toppers, movie theater advertising, restroom posters, as well as broadcast and print media buys. Unique partner media include outdoor message banners placed at high traffic areas, marquees/community billboards, live radio remotes and corporate partnerships such as McDonald’s and Stamarts statewide. "The sustained public information period will hopefully increase safety belt usage statewide," explained Olson.
"Increased public information and enforcement efforts, coupled with localized activities will ensure the messages ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ and ‘Wear Your Safety Belt’ are heard by everyone," she said. ![[ end of article ]](http://www.safecommunities.org/images/endarticle.gif)
