"Click it or Ticket" May Blitz Already Underway
Posted: May 12, 2004
By: Kristen Partlow
All area law enforcement agencies will be stepping up enforcement of the state's seat belt and child restraint laws this month.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Ward County Sheriffs Department, Minot Police, Burlington Police, Surrey Police and Minot Air Force Base will participate with high visibility enforcement of seat belt laws.
This May Mobilization, called Click It or Ticket, is a national effort precipitated by the high numbers of traffic-related injuries that will be prevented by wearing seat belts. Local law enforcement, as well as law enforcement nationwide, are working together on the "Click It or Ticket" campaign to save lives and financial costs to society. Ward County exceeds the state average in its usage rate with over 70% of our population buckling up!
If you're stopped for a traffic offense, and you or your passengers are not buckled up, expect enforcement action. Local law enforcement strive to make roads as safe as possible --saving lives & reducing injuries for those persons involved in motor vehicle crashes. The single most effective way to do this is the use of seat belts and child restraint systems in vehicles.
