Bismarck, ND- A car safety seat check-up was held on July 9, 2003 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Stan Puklich Chevrolet.

29 car safety seats were inspected. 1 car safety seat was used properly, the other 28 were not. Misuse included: loose harness straps, carrying handle not in proper or correct position, retainer clip not at armpit level, seat belt not in locked mode or failed 1" test, locking clips used incorrectly, harness straps not attached securely and threaded correctly, not appropriate 45 degree recline, and child not in appropriate seat. To find out if you are properly using your car safety seat, come to the next car safety seat check up, which will be held on August 13, 2003 at Bill Barth Ford from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information, call Community Action Program at 258-2240 and ask for Lacey.
