Do Buckle, Don't Booze Organizes Prom Promotion 2003
Posted: Apr 7, 2003
The DBDB program is initiating this promotion in an effort to help students make good choices during prom.
Underage drinking does occur, particularly around prom time; it is a chronic problem that kills more than 2,000 young people annually. The key to preventing this behavior is communication with young people about the dangers and tragic consequences of underage drinking.
In an effort to motivate students to make good choices, we organized Prom Promotion 2003. The primary theme was "Celebrate Smart." The secondary messages were "Wear Your Seat Belt" and "Don't Drink." The following promotional activities were coordinated with 13 of the largest North Dakota High Schools agreeing to participate:
- Incentives for the disc jockey's to distribute throughout the evening of the Prom
- Hand stamps to use at the Prom entrance
- Table tents to be displayed during the evening or banquet
- Posters were sent to high schools, gas stations, and fast food restaurants statewide
- Safety messages for disc jockey's to announce during the evening and at breaks
- Seat belt pledge cards for all students to sign
- Radio public service announcements were produced and distributed statewide
- Tux, boutonniere and rental labels were distributed to florists and rental stores statewide
