Katie Anderson is a middle child in a family of three children. Her older sister lives in Fargo, and her younger brother attends West Point.  Katie's parents are active in organizations in the family's hometown of Park River.  Katie husband Thomas, works on the family farm in the Clifford area.  They are the proud parents of son Trace.  Born just this last August, Katie says, "He always has a smile on his face and is so much like his dad already!"  

Katie delights in spending time with her loved ones, visiting new places, and trying new things.  She also enjoys good food especially ice cream and lefse.  She has an aversion to mice, bugs, things that are sweet n sour, and irritable and stubborn people.

She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Mayville State University.  Katie enjoys working with people and serving others, and as a North Dakota native, she has a vested interest in the area and wants to have a positive impact on its future.  

Though being a Safe Communities coordinator in such a rural area does present some challenges, Katie will be addressing the issues related to alcohol, tobacco, and other substance abuses.  She plans to educate people about the dangers of drinking and driving, and provide alternatives to underage drinking for minors.  She also is looking forward to getting the coalition going strong again, and targeting people under the age of 30 to make lifestyle choices that will benefit them.

 Katie enjoys the variety her position provides.  She is very thankful for the encouragement of others who see the importance of the Safe Communities program in her county and the support of her co-workers and employer.
