Profile Charlie Kourajian: Member Jamestown Safe Communities Coalition
Published  04/21/2008 | Traffic Safety Partners |
Charlie was asked to join the Jamestown Safe Communities Coalition in 2005

Charlie Kourajian served on the Jamestown City Council for 32 years, and was Jamestown’s mayor for over nine years.  He was also a production supervisor of the local newspaper.  In both positions, safety measures and awareness were always stressed.  Because he had been involved in several coalition projects for many years, Charlie was asked to join the Jamestown Safe Communities Coalition in 2005 and has been an active member even since.    Since becoming a coalition member, he has assisted with many safety projects.

Charlie currently enjoys his responsibilities as editor and publisher of the Jamestown Safe Communities Coalition’s newsletter, which informs the community of the coalition’s efforts and programs.  Charlie anticipates that the coalition will keep the community informed about traffic safety programs and ways people can avoid crashes, and therefore save lives.

Charlie feels satisfaction in knowing he is helping the coalition get the message out to the community about safety. His biggest challenge getting individuals to listen to the message.  He enjoys working with fellow coalition members and making a difference in his community. [ end of article ]
