Goals

  • To show support to local, county, and state law enforcement for their help and efforts to eliminate drunk driving through DUI enforcement.  To build stronger partnerships with law enforcement through appreciation of their efforts.

Strategies

High-visibility enforcement, including crackdowns, sobriety checkpoints, and saturation patrols, is a key factor in reducing the instances of drunk driving in North Dakota.  In order to schedule and hold these high-visibility enforcement efforts, it is important to have good relationships and strong partnerships with local police departments, county sheriff’s offices, and local highway patrol officers.

It is important to keep in contact with partners not only when they are needed, but throughout the year.  Strong partnerships are built with contact and appreciation shown even when help is not needed at that time.

A good way to build strong partnerships with law enforcement is to show appreciation for their efforts throughout the year.  One way of showing law enforcement appreciation is to send a letter of support.  By sending a letter of support, law enforcement will feel appreciated, stronger partnerships will be built, and more support may be returned from law enforcement when help is needed.

Results

  • Stronger partnerships with local, county, and state law enforcement agencies.
  • Engender a feeling of appreciation for law enforcement.
