Strategies

The District 4 Community Traffic Safety Team needed a way to teach pre-school and school age children about the importance of traffic safety issues.  A Safety Angel visited local schools and delivered traffic safety messages and information.  The Safety Angel met with adults and children and discussed a variety of traffic safety topics.  She demonstrated the proper use of seat belts and bicycle helmets.  The program features a safety angel song.  The lyrics are:

SAFETY ANGEL KID

Lyrics by:  Angele Evans – FDOT/CTST District 4
Sing to:  “Brahms Lullaby”

I’m a Safety Angel Kid
Angel Kid-Angel Kid
I’m a Safety Angel Kid
And I earned my wings today.

I will teach Mom and Dad
Mom and Dad-Mom and Dad
I will teach Mom and Dad
How to buckle up too.

Then I’ll teach the Boys and Girls
Boys and Girls-Boys and Girls
Then I’ll teach Boys and Girls
Just what they should do.

Then we’ll teach the Whole Wide World
Whole Wide World-Whole Wide World
Then we’ll teach the Whole Wide World
They should buckle up too.

I’m a Safety Angel Kid
Angel Kid-Angel Kid
I’m a Safety Angel Kid
Yes I earned my wings today

Now I’ll teach Mom and Dad
Now I’ll teach Boys and Girls
Now I’ll teach the Whole Wide World
They can earn their wings too.
