May 25 Child Passenger Safety Picnic Lunch in Dickinson

Come join the coalition and celebrate passenger safety

The Southwest Coalition of Safe Communities will be hosting a picnic lunch at Sax Motors in downtown Dickinson on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 11:00 – 1:00 PM.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated.  This luncheon is an effort to educate people on Child Passenger Safety and Seatbelt use and to increase seatbelt usage rates in our region and state.  This project is in conjunction with the May Mobilization efforts across the United States during the entire month of May.

Nearly one in five Americans (or 19 percent nationally) still fail to regularly wear their seatbelts when driving or riding in a motor vehicle, according to a new report from the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Among those least likely to buckle up:  young males, pickup truck drivers and their passengers, people who live in rural areas, and night-time drivers.

Come join the coalition in celebrating their efforts to save lives and educate the general public on these important issues.
